Diwali is the festival of lights, a sound of crackers and lightning all over the universe with a glimpse of happiness and joy among all. This festival is celebrated across India in many different ways as India has people who belong to different religions. And every religion holds their own ways and rituals to celebrate it. As it is the festival of lights, children are very excited on this day. It is celebrated in the month of kartik on Amavasya to celebrate the victory of good over evil.
But there is a history behind celebrating Diwali. According to Hindu Mythology it is said that on this day Lord Rama returned Ayodhya with Mata Sita and Laxman after defeating Ravana. Ravana had kidnapped Mata Sita while they were on Vanvash to take revenge for his sister Surpnakha’s nose cut by Lord Rama. Ravana is unaware of the truth that Mata Sita was his own daughter. To whom he ordered to get buried in land after prediction of astrologer that she will be the reason for Ravana’s destruction. Then Raja Janak got her while ploughing his land and raised her as his own daughter. It is well said that everything is planned before you enter into the universe. She is the only reason for Ravana’s destruction.
On this day we celebrate with puja of Goddess Laxmi ji and Lord Ganesh ji. Laxmi ji is the Goddess of abundance and Ganesh ji who shows path to overcome obstacles. We can feel their presence on this day. On this, people purchase new vehicles, property, jewelleries etc. It is believed that by purchasing new things on this day we are inviting abundance and prosperity to our home.
It is believed that the Goddess enters the home at the time of Diwali and stays there for the whole year. Goddess Laxmi is the symbol of purity and abundance. Ganesh ji is the symbol of stability. You should purify your soul before invoking them because they only listen to the pure heart. And you can feel their presence on Diwali.
Diwali is the festival of lightning diya of knowledge inside ourselves. Generate humbleness in our heart and mind that will help to remove darkness and all negativity from inside.
According to astrology lightning diya also illuminates our chakras and helps in cleaning them deeply and guide us towards spirituality. One should feel this lightning inside it will help you in illuminating their soul inside and purify our thought process.
Diwali is not only the religious festivity or festival for lightning diya, it is beyond it. Due to this festival many people who are below the poverty line and who are struggling to have food on their plate, get an opportunity to earn. All the décor items we used in Diwali, even clay diya or rangoli colours or clay idol of Goddess Laxmi ji or clay idol of Ganesh ji, bandhanwars and many more items are made by these people. They wait for the whole year for such types of festivals to earn their livelihood. So, Diwali is also very special or a need for some people. In many states people used to serve food to ancestors or feed food to needy persons for their ancestors.
In Diwali many negative energies also came into action because on this day due to Amavasya their energies got increased. You all should also be careful of all such types of energies. In 2025 Diwali is on 20th of October. Diwali is also signified as a torch in darkness to reach the inner soul. Enjoy this Diwali with great joy but also help needy persons not too much but at least as much they can remove darkness from their home tonight and they can enjoy Diwali too. And will try to follow the path shown to us by the virtuous Rama.
